So I'm listening to some random Internet radio broadcast when it starts playing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." And I just had to laugh. Most wonderful time? How arbitrary! Sure, it means winter break is coming up, I get to go back to the family, and people will be giving stuff to each other like the good, obedient consumer drones we are. And while I'm one of the few who still considers the religious implications of Christmas, that's not enough to qualify it as the most wonderful time.
"And everyone telling you/Be of good cheer" ...Well, they'd have to, seeing as how the weather's trying to decide between cold and really cold and has for the time being settled on bleak. Oh, and did I mention finals are coming up?
"There'll be much mistletoe-ing/And hearts will be glowing/When loved ones are near." ...HAH! The sheer irony of this bit had my inner cynic positively squeeing with glee. (Did I mention that my inner cynic has a boardroom-worthy stake in my sense of humor?) For those of you who haven't been keeping up, Erika left just before Thanksgiving and I won't see her again until the middle of January. Take that, Most Wonderful Time!
PS: Don't worry. I'm not being bitter or overly negative. I'm being cynical. In a good way. A large part of me thinks that this entire situation is funny as hell.

I'm still kind of near! Hmmm, maybe I'll bus up some weekend and be nearer. And now I go to go finish off Sine-count stuff.
